i.am.paranoid.
Sunday, February 24th, 2008Yesterday, i attended City Survival Training for ladies. The day before and yesterday’s morning, i was regretting each second the moment that i signed up for the training. It was Saturday anyway. It is a crime to work on Saturdays. Haha ya, i exaggerate a bit. Well, back to the main topic.
During the training, they kept showing us case studies. Real cases. The most disturbed topic for me was rape. Always. They even showed us the pictures of the victims when they found them and also the rapists. They told us how the rapist/murderer did the crime. It was horror you know. Terrible.
The other thing that disturbed me was child abuse. They showed us a video on how a maid abused a baby. The baby was crying. The maid got mad. So she kept throwing the baby on the couch and hit the baby, as if the baby was a doll. The baby screamed louder. Terrifying. And very sad.
In between the vidoes, pictures and case studies, they showed us how to defend ourselves. Not martial arts but small ‘moves’, and what kind of stuff we can use and should have in our handbags wherever we go (even when we are at home!).
I think our community lack this kind of awareness. I strongly agree that every woman in the country should attend this kind of training. At least once.
I kept telling mama about the stuff that i learned. She said, ‘yeah girl, you are getting paranoid’. I should not be paranoid. Just be more alert and aware of my surroundings. And tawakal, as what told by one of my loved ones. Thanks. I just need some reassurence.
